Preventing Clogs in Your Drain

Too many times, we think that we are able to put anything down the drain that we want. With this mindset, we often end up with a stopped up drain as a result. Even though some clogging issues are easy to fix, the more extreme ones may result in a need for emergency plumbing services. So what can you do to make sure that you prevent clogs? Here are a few tips.

  • Don’t use the drain like a trash can. You may be tempted to put stuff down your drain that comes off of your plate, but in many cases, this can cause clogging, which results in a need for sewer line repair. It can also really make your home stink.
  • Clean out your drain every time that you take a shower. One of the most common reasons for a stopped up drain is because hair got clumped in the shower drain. So, either get a hair catcher from your local hardware store or clean out the drain as soon as you get out of the shower.
  • Don’t flush things down the toilet that are not supposed to be. If you flush feminine products or large wads of toilet paper down the drain, you may need toilet repair, or you can cause blockage in other areas of your system.
  • Get regular rooter service. This will ensure that all of the plumbing in Little Rock, Arkansas that is in and around your home stays clear of clogging.
